Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
-
Q: How can I make an appointment?
-
- A: Please call
(713) 780-2833 to schedule your appointment.
-
Q: Can I receive counseling over the phone
without coming to the office?
-
- A: The therapist
would like to meet with you face-to-face during the
initial stage of therapy. Counseling over the telephone
can be done if the therapist determines that it can
adequately serve your needs.
-
Q: How long is a typical session? How
often are they?
-
- A: In general,
the therapist would like to see you once a week. Each
session is 45~60 minutes long. Sessions can be spaced out
depending on the therapeutic goals and your needs.
-
Q: Which therapist will see me? Do I or
can I request a specific therapist?
-
- A: If you have a
preference for a specific therapist to work with, please
let us know. We will schedule you with the therapist of
your choice. Otherwise, our intake-coordinator will match
you with a therapist who may best serve your needs.
-
Q: You have interns; will they see me
as well?
-
- A: We are a
training facility and the interns are in their last year
of training before earning their Master's degrees.
Depending on your preference, the interns can be made
available to see you. The interns are under supervision
by the on-site supervisors, so in essence, you will
receive the best combination of ideas to meet your
therapy goals.
-
Q: How long will I need to attend
therapy?
-
- A: The duration
of therapy will be determined by your specific needs.
After the first session, your therapist will make an
assessment and tell you about the length of
treatment.
-
Q: Does my insurance cover this kind of
treatment?
-
- A: We accept
most major insurance plans. Please check your insurance
policy for your "mental health" or
"behavioral health" coverage.
-
Q: How much do you charge if my
insurance does not cover counseling services?
-
- A: The initial
therapy session is $130 per hour. From second session on,
it is $110 per hour.
-
Q: Do you have a sliding scale or any
discount rate?
-
- A: Yes. Please
discuss your financial situation with the Clinical
Manager.
-
Q: Do you prescribe medication?
-
- A: No. If you
need medication, we will refer you to a
psychiatrist.
-
Q: I work during the week and it is
hard to take time off to come for counseling. Do you have
appointments on weekends or after 5 o'clock?
-
- A: We are open
until 6PM during the weekday, and the last appointment we
make is for 5PM. Some of our therapists see clients on
Saturdays. However, Saturdays are very popular and
appointment slots are taken quickly. If you are
interested in making an appointment for Saturday, please
let us know so that we can place you on the waiting
list.
